The Bangweulu Power Company Limited is operating two solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants, namely the Bangweulu Project and the Ngonye Project. The Projects are adjacent to each other and located in the Lusaka South Multi-Economic Facility Zone (MFEZ), approximately 30 km south east of Lusaka, Zambia.
In line with these two projects’ remit; to deliver sustainable community investment projects to create shared benefits and positive community relationships to project affected and neighboring communities, Bangweulu Power Company Limited has partnered with Total LandCare to design and implement a livelihoods improvement project for the rural households surrounding the two project sites.
The goal of Live-Up project is to contribute to the improvement of livelihoods of rural households in Zone 10 of Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone within Kafue District, Zambia.
The purpose is to improve household food and nutrition security and to increase and diversify household incomes with resilience to the effects of climate change for 500 rural households in Zone 10 of Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone in Kafue District, Zambia.
The impact of the project will be measured by the following 3 indicators against the baseline:
1. Percentage of households that are food secure (Household Hunger Score and Household dietary score).
2. Number of HouseHolds with productive assets (e.g., bicycles, livestock, improved housing, farm equipment, radio/TV, mobile phones, ox-carts).
3. Percentage increase in average HH real income.
